The Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley is proud to announce the addition of our new Staff Veterinarian, Dr. Amanda Dykstra, DVM, MPH, DABVP to our team. Dr. Dykstra received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University and completed her Shelter Medicine Fellowship at UC Davis. She went on to receive her Masters of Public Health, Veterinary Public Health Concentration from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.Dr. Dykstra most recently served as a Contract/Relief Veterinarian, Consultant in many communities in East Tennessee. Previous to that, she held the role of Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine in Knoxville Tennessee and City Veterinarian for the City of Jefferson Missouri. She is very excited to work with the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley as our staff veterinarian and to be part of our continued mission supporting the welfare of animals in the communities we serve. Erin Dols, DVM leaves our organization to manage a new endeavor in Greenback, Tennessee. We wish her and her team the best of luck. We look forward to continuing our long standing presence in the community, providing animal welfare resources to the communities we serve, as the needs change and grow in Knoxville.
